It would be our honor to have you join us for our regular services. Below are our service times at First Baptist. As the senior pastor, it is a privilege to be a part of a great church. First Baptist is a Bible-believing, conservative Baptist Church in the downtown area of Tipton, IN.
Below is a recent newspaper article that was published in our local Tipton Tribune.
Each week, Pastor Ward published a weekly column entitled, "From the Pastor's Pen".
The article, below, was written for the Febuary 12th edition of our local newspaper.
It is our prayer that these article will be a blessing to your heart!
“An Amazing Creator”
As a Bible-believing Christian, I believe the world was created by the hand of God in six literal days!Genesis 1:1 states that, “…God created the heaven and the earth.”The Hebrew word for creation is the word ‘bara.’This word is important, because it means to, ‘create from nothing.’And, that’s exactly what our Lord did.He created the earth from nothing – into something. This important Hebrew word refutes evolution, which teaches the lie that the earth was ‘evolved’ over millions and millions of years.
Some would argue that a day in Genesis could have been a million years. But, the Bible proves this theory as false because in Exodus, Moses compares the creation week to the work week.God created the earth in six-literal days and rested.Man is to work for six days, and then rest. This is how God created the earth and this is how man is to provide for his family. Also, the word ‘day’ in Genesis is the Hebrew word ‘yom.’YOM carried the idea of a 24-hour day, just like our day is today. It’s wonderful to look to the words of scripture to find the true meaning!
In Cobb County, Georgia, a legal battle has been brewing over the past 4 years. The local school board of Cobb County gave up its legal effort to place stickers in school textbooks stating that evolution is not a fact.Under withering pressure from the scientific establishment, the board caved. But does this supposed victory for “science” mean science classrooms are now free of religious influence? The classrooms certainly are not free of the humanists’ view of life.Having no believe in God is just as much a religious concept as a belief in God.
The above news story is one example at how we have become hostage to the ‘supposed’ belief that evolution is fact.If a classroom teaches evolution is fact, then teachers ought to have the liberty to show other points of view – including the creation point of view. The problem with society (and school systems) is that we’ve caved to the humanistic point of view in ALL areas of life.Furthermore, we’ve refused to submit to a Holy, all-Powerful God who is our final authority in life.
For those who choose to believe in a Creator-Redeemer (like the Bible presents), then that means that we, as human beings, must submit to this Creator. And, humanism and liberalism states that man is his own god (notice I’ve not capitalized the ‘g’).If man is his own god, then man can live, say, and act the way he wants to.No bible, no God, and no authority is necessary in life.
The hidden danger in believing evolution (which is just a theory) is that it leads man to believe that there is no Supreme God.Man is his own god and man can live the way he wants to.That, my friend, is the real motive behind believing and swallowing the lie of evolution. If we can teach our youth that the earth is millions and millions of years old and that it was formed by a ‘big bang’ or ‘an evolutionary process’, then this would discredit the Genesis account of creation and it would discredit the Bible.
Christian parents have a right and a duty to teach their young people that the Bible is the history book of the universe. It is HIS story (God’s story) about how the universe began.Parents should also have the freedom to have their views presented in the classroom, but when legal recourse fails, it is more important than ever that they teach the Bible’s view of history and science in the home and in the church.
Finally, where are our CHURCHES in this debate? Many churches are silent regarding the subject of creation. We’re afraid of offense and we’re afraid of how the world would perceive us.Recently, our youth pastor spent 12 weeks teaching our young people the facts about creation though our Sunday school program.Using facts, PowerPoint, media, and computer imagery, our youth pastor very boldly, but lovingly showed our Junior High and Senior High youth that God DID create the world and that HE did created it in six literal days!
This teaching venue was a help to your youth and ignited a fire within our youth group to boldly proclaim that their God is real and that the earth is a YOUNG earth and that our God truly created everything we see and that we can trust the Bible as fact, not a fairy tale. This, my friend, is true Christianity at it’s best!
